Technical Details of the NCIC Inmate Telephone System

The NCIC system uses fully redundant Taqua iX 7000 Class 5 switches. The VoIP services uses a cluster of Asterisk VOIP switches which can handle over 120,000 calls simultaneously. The Asterisk VOIP switches are developed on Linux platform and the Inmate Call Engine which acts as front end to the user has been deigned to simplify the management using web based interface. The users interface is based on ASP.net ( a Microsoft web application framework technology). The web based interface allows users to simply click the relevant icon to get the desired information without understanding the intricacies on the system.
